We are pleased to share with you that spring application to the Bei Shan Tang Doctoral Thesis Grant 2023 is open until May 31, 2023. Moving into its second year, the Grant now accepts applications in two rounds annually, with the fall application starting October 1 and closing November 30. The Grant is designed to support outstanding final-year PhD candidates whose dissertation topic is pertinent to traditional Chinese art. Grant awardees are expected to engage in full-time thesis writing and complete their dissertation within the grant period (maximum of 12 months). The Grant has been established in line with the mission of the Bei Shan Tang Foundation to advance scholarship in the field of Chinese art and culture. Through the 2022 pilot year, the Grant has attracted a pool of diverse applications both academically and geographically. Awardee information can be found here.
