Title: 11th Forum for East Asian Art History in German-speaking Countries
Duration: 19–20 May 2023 (Fri-Sat)
Deadline: 20 February 2023
Venue: Department of Art History, University of Vienna, Vienna, Austria

In 2022, the Forum for East Asian Art History in German-speaking Countries celebrated its tenth anniversary, cementing its role as a platform to connect junior researchers and promote academic exchange in the field of East Asian Art History. The University of Vienna first hosted the Forum in 2018 and is proud to be organizing the eleventh edition.

The Forum for East Asian Art History is a venue for international junior researchers to present their work and discuss methodological and institutional perspectives specific to their field. We warmly encourage proposals by doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and junior faculty members, whose research focuses on the history of art and archaeology of East Asia, or related fields. Papers should focus on the presentation of findings and the discussion of the research process of ongoing dissertation and research projects or completed M.A. theses. Proposals for thematic panels with three to four speakers are also welcome. Each speaker will be allotted twenty minutes for their presentation.

To apply, please submit an abstract of 300 words and a short CV (max. 1 page) in German or English. Panel proposals should include abstracts and CVs of individual speakers in addition to a short abstract for the panel. Please submit your applications by February 20, 2023 to Ms. Denise Gubitosi (denise.gubitosi@univie.ac.at).

Unfortunately, the organizers are unable to provide financial assistance for traveling costs. They therefore ask participants to secure travel funding from other sources. The organizers are happy to provide letters of invitation if required. For questions, please contact Denise Gubitosi (denise.gubitosi@univie.ac.at) or Singyan Choy (sing-yan.choy@univie.ac.at).
